Rachel Quinn, Piano

Rachel has performed numerous concertos by Mozart, Beethoven, Chopin, Cesar Franck, Prokofiev, Liszt, Turina and Finzi with Irish orchestras such as the National Symphony Orchestra, RTE Concert Orchestra, Irish Chamber Orchestra and with the West Bohemian Orchestra in the Czech Republic. She has appeared in solo recital programmes at arts centres throughout Ireland, and abroad in Japan, Italy, the Netherlands, Norway, Austria and the UK. In addition she was awarded a Fulbright Scholarship to the Peabody Conservatory in the USA and was a Foundation Scholar at the Royal College of Music London. Rachel is a noted chamber musician, teacher and accompanist.

Alan Smale, Violin

Alan is founder and director of The Degani Ensemble and Leader of The Cork Opera House Concert Orchestra for the 2020/21 season. For 20 years till 2013 he was Leader of the RTE NSO, and for 10 years prior to that Leader of the RTECO. He is a guest leader of the Ulster Orchestra and a frequent concerto soloist. He is a great exponent of Irish contemporary music and has recorded concertos by Raymond Deane, Frank Corcoran, James Wilson and Jerome de Bromhead. Alan plays on a superb Venetian violin made by Eugenio Degani in 1896.

Annette Cleary, Cello

Annette Cleary studied with Coral Bognuda, Ivan Andrews and Aisling Drury-Byrne at the Royal Irish Academy of Music and subsequently, as the recipient of scholarships, continued her studies in Austria (Mozarteum), Germany and the USA, numbering among her teachers Paul Tortelier, Antonio Janigro and Andre Navarra. Annette was a prizewinner at the Barchet International Cello Competition and from 1993 was prinicipal cellist with the D’Oyly Carte Opera Company. She has performed as soloist with the NSO and acts as jury member for International Competitions. Annette teaches at the Royal Irish Academy of Music where she recently received her Doctorate.
